Golden Empire Youth Tackle Football was formed to provide a competitive youth tackle football league for local elementary and junior high school students. The primary goals of this is to provide a training ground for the basic fundamentals of football, to develop sound mind, body, and character and first and foremost to have fun. However this is competitive club football all kids have to tryout for a position on a team which is decided by the coaches of each respective team.

AREA PARTICIPATION:
As a high school feeder program each player will be placed on a team based on the geographical area they reside in. We strongly enforce this policy in order to keep continuity through out the league and provide a consistent feeder program.

NOTE: The Kern High School district does not have any involvement in this league or the policies set forth by its governing board.

COACHING:
All coaching is provided by volunteers, each team will have at least 2 coaches, and in most cases up to six. We provide one area rep for each section that will nominate coaches to the governing board for vote. Once the coach is elected the area rep will over see the coach staff and be the contact person for parents and players who have any questions or concerns.

AGE AND WEIGHT:
We break all areas up into 4 teams according age and weight. Obviously this is done to provide participation among the players. Because children grow at different rates some players may find themselves playing on teams with players older or younger than them.

 

The teams are as follows:

Freshman:	ages 8-9
Sophomore:	ages 10-12
Junior Varsity	ages 11-13
Varsity	ages 12-14

Unfortunately not all areas have enough participation to field all four teams. Most areas do however and each year we have more players coming out to participate.

FIELD OF PLAY:
All league games are played on regulation high school football fields under the direct supervision of experienced knowledgeable coaches.  Check out the link on the schedule page for maps to each field.

Golden Empire Youth Tackle Football is dedicated to the youth of Kern County. With over thirteen hundred local participants, GEYF has become Kern County's largest high school feeder program.
